CCTV

CCTV refers to "Closed Circutit Television".  Closed circuit television (CCTV) is a television system in which signals are not publicly distributed; cameras are connected to television monitors in a limited area such as a store, office building, or college campus. CCTV is commonly used in surveillance systems.

In the past video surveillance systems were often analog, storing their output on a VCR or other similar device.  Since these systems did not transmit the video outside their immediate area, they were referred to as "closed circuit".  The AdaptiCAM system is not "closed circuit" because the video data is "broadcast" in digital form to our servers at a remote location, where they can be viewed from password protected websites by anyone, anywhere on the WWW.   This technique allows images/video to be instantly transmitted away from the site, precluding individuals or weather from damaging or stealing the archived information.  The Adapticam System is a particularly valuable tool for weather monitoring (Weather Cam) or security concerns in remote locations.  The status of businesses, mountain cabins, beach houses, and boat slips can easily be monitored from any Internet-ready location on earth.
