Digital Video Surveillance
In the past video surveillance systems were often analog, storing their output on a VCR or other similar device. With the advent of the digital revolution systems continued using analog cameras but began using DVRs (Digital Video Recorders), which, after converting the analog information to digital, stored the images/video on a hard disk or in large banks of RAM. Systems using either DVR's or video recorders have in common the same security vulnerability. The storage media can be easily damaged or stolen. As digital technology progressed a more advanced system became possible.
The AdaptiCAM technique allows images/video to be instantly transmitted away from the site, precluding individuals from damaging or stealing the archived information. In addition to making the data more secure, the data is now more available for viewing and analysis.
